And...? How does pretending something to keep Aang safe have anything to do with Katara actually seeing him as her son?

Some people are squicked by pairing differences where one is clearly more mature and takes a more parental/older sister role than the one who acts like a kid 90% of the time.

Like. I don't care about other pairings, but Katara and Aang bothered me because there was SUCH a maturity difference.

I actually usually am too. I just don't see Katara actually taking that role. Imitating the imagery of a particular image of a mother/son and pretending to be his mother to the Fire Nation for purposes of safety don't equal actually taking on a motherly role to me.
