People can criticize individual aspects of Harry Potter and still have positive feelings about the series as a whole.

I don't think that the majority of it is negative. For instance, the Eternal Snape Argument - it's an argument about two different interpretations of a character, but neither interpretation is really about Harry Potter being 'bad' as a series. There are also specific things that people are negative about that get talked about more frequently because of recency but that's about those specific things.

Sure? Most of the wanky secrets tend to at least invoke positive discussions. The new stuff may not be as popular but people bring up Harry Potter all the time in general fandom discussion threads.

Nah, I agree with you. I often find this place a bit overly negative towards Harry Potter. And I'm not even much of a fan. I've read all the books and I loved the first few as a kid, that's about it. I just think they're better than a lot of F!S seems to, and I definitely take less issue with JKR than most of F!S does. She's not perfect, but she seems like a good person and a wonderful - though not infallible - creator.

I feel like the same three people who keep bawwwww'ing over how JKR's perfect and the books are unquestionable have killed off the ambivalent opinions.
