Temp agencies are a good way to get work. Most of them have websites that you can sign up on. Also, if you can stomach retail, practically every shop in the western hemisphere is hiring seasonal help right now. Resist any temptation to sell Scentsy or Mary Kay or Pampered Chef or whatever. It's a trap.

However, if you do decide to go the retail route, you might as well work for a store where you buy stuff anyway that has a good employee discount.

This. A good employee discount is more money in your pocket if you're buying things that you were already going to buy anyway.
