it's okay for anyone not to ship something if it makes them uncomfortable, and that includes catradora growing up vaguely together

but it's rude and disingenuous for people to act like it's the same level of explicitly familial relationship as....say, thorki

they don't call each other sisters, they call each other *best friends*, and shadow weaver may be an abusive semi-parental figure to both of them, but they definitely aren't "adopted siblings" in any recognizable sense related to our idea of nuclear family with Designated Kids

and the "I CAN'T CONDONE SHIPPING THIS" brigade has big big issues with insisting that their discomfort is objective morality that everyone else has to acknowledge regardless of nuance, critical thought, or garden variety disagreement
