Same. I know the UK doesn't have all the distorted views created by US gun culture, but they have farmers! And vets! Plenty of people who could explain to the writers that it's not always kind or healthy to sit around making sad eyes while an animal dies a "natural death."

And if your white American guy runs around knee-jerk shooting when he's angry/scared, and the only consequence is that he's accidentally merciful, that's a whole tower of Unfortunate Implications right there.

This Brit agrees with you. Sadly I've seen people dismiss the "spiders will starve to death" as "it's just a kid's show anyway stop thinking about it" and "it's a natural death!" so yeah.
