I feel you, OP. Jaina's not my most missed character (Mara Jade is), but I can definitely sympathize.

Mara! I love Mara. She was such a great character in her own right and such a perfect foil for Luke. She was the best.

she's just as much there as she was before

She's lost in the sense that nothing new will ever be written about her. Legends never really got to have a real ending. It just stopped. Also, even in the fandom, fics don't really get written for EU characters anymore.

It IS just like a character in a TV series being killed off. Even if popular initially, with no new material coming out, that character's popularity in fandom slowly dies away.

More like fbeing written off the show, or the series getting cancelled.

I personally wouldn't think of the word "lost" in either of those scenarios but that's me.

Legends was never going to have an ending even if Disney hadn't de-canonized it.

It just would've kept going.

It's been years that I've read some of the now EU books and... while I do think there were some nice things in them, I just thought the majority of them was so... bad?
I'm basically sitting in a corner alone while the old fandom is frothing at the mouth about the old books being vastly superior to the new canon. /shrugs

I am however pleased that Thrawn is still there. Those were by far my favorite books and Timothy Zahn being able to write him into the new canon is great. Loved that book.

(I've read quite a few of the new books and enjoyed them all? Even the first book of the Aftermath trilogy that apparently lots of people didn't like. I guess I just have a different taste...)
