I don't mind it at all. That said, I really don't get why they made the extra effort of CGIing her face, since her huge eyes in the original was becaues it's a goddamn manga, not because it was a point that she has huge eyes.

I get why it bothers people, but it honestly doesn’t bother me. That said, I think giving Alita manga eyes was pointless.

I only saw the trailer the other day, and afterward I went “oh, so that’s what most Disney princesses would look like irl.”

Egh. Even if that's not supposed to be the feel of it in-universe, I don't know if I could get through the movie without it feeling like some wet dream of anime girl come to life and leaning needily on this boy (which...it literally is, but huge eyes don't make any sense in realism). Which is too bad because if you redid the trailer without that, it would actually look more than watchable.

It's frustrating because that's not how it is in the manga at all. I mean, Alita does try to be a good waifu to get Yugo's attention (which doesn't work until it's too late) while also being a badass bounty hunter, but it all falls apart and spoilers: he basically exists to get fridged for Alita's development.

I couldn't even watch the trailer. If you slightly enlarge eye and head size you get the neoteny effect, which encourages adults to feel warmth and affection toward the individual with the trait, but this goes way-way too far into the uncanny valley as someone said above. She looks like a bug.
