Getting into this show is like homework, so I completely understand. If you can't get past that barrier, then this show aint for you.

I think that's fair, personally length isn't an issue for me but I have to enjoy the content to be able to get through it all, otherwise it'll feel like a chore and that's when I'll drop it.

So if it doesn't work for you OP there's nothing wrong with that.

I am so over it. 20 freaking months between seasons?? The last season's plot wasn't that great and neither were the actors. Sad thing is when it starts up in the Spring I will have to fake it because it will be all my friends are going to want to talk about. I would rather fake an orgasm then watch another episode of GOT.

I just don't want anything to do with that much violence, especially sexual violence. But I feel you. Some shows are so intimidating to even try watching because they're SO involved and the fans know every detail! It can feel like being a casual viewer wouldn't be possible. Running plots can be great, but I see the appeal of shows you can understand if you missed a few episodes too

This is exactly what turned me off the show as well. I watched S1, and at first I was like, "Huh, okay, this is new and well made and cool I guess." But by early S2 I was just too put off by the show's attitudes towards violence, sex, and especially sexualized violence, and just hoe much of it there was, constantly.

It's not even that I have a problem with sexual violence. Like, I'm two seasons into Outlander, and while I don't love every single thing the show does, I can accept and usually even respect the way the show handles violence and sexual violence.

There's just something about the way GoT, specifically, handles sex and violence that really just pisses me off.

I just end up skipping over the parts that I find boring, and then reading up to make sure I know what is going on. Like, until the past season, Jon's storyline was so boring to me. So I mostly skip his stuff.

They've made enough hours of this show that by this point watching it is a time commitment.

I hate when people nag me to watch something long because I know they want me to watch all of it in relatively short order (as opposed to maybe one episode a week) but I don't think they realize they're basically asking me to give up my nights and weekends.

I've watched it all on Blu-Ray with the in-episode guides turned on, so that if they're showing a place or person and I'm like "Huh? Who's that again?" I can just pause and click and it'll refresh my memory.

Don't know what I'm gonna do when the new season comes out and I'm watching in real time. :P

I'm just not a fan of Medieval shows and movies in general. Paired with the sexual violence, I don't see the point in investing any of my time.

Same here though, although sexual violence doesn't bother me. I'm just not into medieval fantasy stuff.
