I agree. I do disagree with SOME of the decisions for the old characters, but overall I think they have the right amount of screentime (Though, I'm still very sad about Leia's storyline being cut short and just hope for the best) overall.
I also like the new characters.

(But then, I'm also someone who never managed to get into the EU/the old fandom, maybe cause I'm at that awkward age where I'm younger than the original fans, but older than the new ones? General speaking. I also think the new novels from the new canon have been overall quite good from what I've read of them so far.)

Which new novels have you read?

The Aftermath trilogy, Leia-Princess of Alderan and both Thrawn novels. I only started this year, though. I also own, but have not read yet: Catalyst, Bloodline and Last Shot.

I know everyone says that Lost Stars is probably the best of all of them, but somehow it hasn't "called to me" yet.

Am however looking forward to Queen's Shadow next year a lot!

I love the Leia ones (the self-titled one and Bloodline) & yes @ more Padme!

Lost Stars is interesting from an Empire point of view. I liked it.

I've liked the storylines of most of them, but in some cases I wish they'd picked better writers. None of the writers have really stood out to me other than Zahn and Claudia Grey. The writing seems pretty generic.

I just prefer the old characters. I didn't expect the entirety of the movies to revolve around them, but I'm simply not that invested in the new ones. Not angry about it, just somewhat disengaged, but that's the way it is with the movies, so whatever.

But if you're talking media other than films? Books, comics, animation, whatever - yeah I am so there for the originals. They're my first loves, and are likely always going to be my favourites.
