Agreed! I actually like basically every change in Fellowship, it was pretty much a perfect adaptation, imo. I appreciate them giving Arwen more spotlight, she is basically just a footnote in the books which sucks ass. The "tied to the ring" thing was pretty cringey, though.

I think letting Heidi have any say in the decisions in a design competition is questionable at best. She plays favourites to the max without even trying to be subtle about it and she has no taste whatsoever. No matter what, as long as it's short, skimpy and borderline trashy, she'll love it.

(Sorry. I just really can't stand her. I may be influenced by her bullshit on Germany's Next Topmodel where she is even more vile than on PR but damn. She's terrible.)

At this point, the only DW facebook group I follow is Progressive Doctor Who fans (and the same goes for Star Wars and one group I found that is for those of us who like all the movies). The negativity just got to be too much.

I'm a non-fan and don't follow, but from the peripheral I assume blonde lady and John Snow are going to get together and have babies and co-rule or something. I thought that was pretty obvious from the like... five episodes of season 1 that I saw. Isn't that what's happening?

I agree. I do disagree with SOME of the decisions for the old characters, but overall I think they have the right amount of screentime (Though, I'm still very sad about Leia's storyline being cut short and just hope for the best) overall.
I also like the new characters.

(But then, I'm also someone who never managed to get into the EU/the old fandom, maybe cause I'm at that awkward age where I'm younger than the original fans, but older than the new ones? General speaking. I also think the new novels from the new canon have been overall quite good from what I've read of them so far.)

I love the descriptions of food in post-war British children's books, like Narnia. A decade of rationing certainly fired the authors' imaginations when it came to description of even quite ordinary food.

So maybe this is a hot take, but I don't think this is skeevy at all and I think it's completely reasonable and interesting to talk about it, as long as you don't act like a big weirdo about it and you make sure that they never, ever see it.

Obviously that last bit is harder in such an Internet-y fandom but I stand by principle.
