Do you guys have any plans for Strikethrough 2.0?

I'm looking into pillowfort.io as a replacement. My main worry is, I don't mind paying $5 for a beta blog, and a lot of people I follow already have an account, but the average fan may not be able to join up yet. Plus, idk how stable their platform is yet, since it's still brand new. I don't like Twitter or Insta so I'm hoping those don't become the next big hub.

I think it's basically a mix between Tumblr and LJ? I haven't used it yet but I know some fanartists I follow had already moved there.

You have traditional blogging, like LJ, with lots of optional privacy controls and f-list type stuff. And then communities? And I guess you can also reblog content or whatever?

From what I see Pillowfort is a barely functional site that will be dead by next year. People should move to Twitter.

No. Fuck Twitter. I hate the word limit and it sucks for sharing art, and all my friends are artists.

Get off of tumblr and be more involved in the real world when I move.

Oddly, the only comm on LJ that I'm active in is...still active....so tumblr isn't a big loss to me.

I'm probably staying on tumblr as long as there's activity, since I only really reblog stuff anyway. I absolutely agree re. twitter and insta. Honestly, I don't know how people are doing fandom there at ALL, but it could just be that I'm still 95% web-focused on my fandom interaction and am crap om app-based platforms.

I'll try to be more active on DW, and I'll definitely be doing something with my Pillowfort account when they're back online.

There was some security upkeep or something. They said they're aiming to be online tomorrow or the day after.

There was a massive security hole, and once they found out, they took the site down to fix it to keep it from being exploited.

I really, honestly don't know. My main fandom is mostly on Tumblr. Tumblr has been a lifesaver for me in a lot of ways. The Tumblr Tolkien fandom has become my home. I don't know if the fandom will move anywhere else or just die.

I'm sorry. I was around for both strikethroughs, this sort of thing is really hard when fandom is your safe harbor.

I don't know where they'll wind up, but I can promise you Tolkien fandom isn't going to die.

I just read the explanation, and I think my blog might actually be safe. The new ban covers art only, not text. I don't do art. I've reblogged some NSFW art, but I can just delete those if need be. I can still post all the porny fics and headcanons I want.

Well.... in theory it only covers art. But a lot of blogs with nsfw fanfic have already been deleted, and people are still waiting for them to be restored or hear from staff at all. So it's a good idea to back up your stuff, just in case.

All my fics are on my computer, so that's not a problem. My headcanons are trickier, though. Not sure how to back those up.

There seems to be some talk of people moving to PillowTalk, a new thing that is being started.

I only really long-on twice a day to reblog some stuff and then bugger off so it's not going to bother me that much, I was thinking about leaving my account to collect dust after my queue ran out as it was. But either way I'm not bothered.

There's some mutuals I'd like to keep in touch with so I'll chuck 'em my twitter info and if tumblr dies then so be it. Maybe something will come along, maye it won't.

But unless Pillowfort actually takes off I'm not paying an entry fee for it, certainly not yet and it'd have to really be The place for fandom for me to even consider it.

I might try Pillowfort but mostly I'm going to sit around and be sad. No, seriously, I might use Twitter more but I don't like/want to use it for most fandom stuff. I'll still be active on DW and Facebook. (I don't do fandom stuff much on Facebook but I'm in a nice writers' group there.)

Sarcasm aside I actually am sad. Pretty much all my social interaction is online and having one less place for it is not good.

Finding other places. I have a pillowfort (JaybieJay when its back up) and looking at that Matsodon thing.
