I'd like to see fansites and forums come back. Fansites and forums are run by fans, so they don't have to deal with this crap.

Man I would LOVE a return to the fansite days of yore.

The only danger with fansites and forums is if a major host goes down or changes their policies, like when geocities finally kicked the bucket and took down half the fansites with it.

AYRT: Ooh, good point.

Also, small-grade sites can get screwed over pretty easily by the IT people, since they're often completely removed and it isn't their top priority. But still, they so often did work out.

Aww, massive nostalgia. But I don't see it happening because things have become so streamlined, you want all your fandom stuff in one place these days.

I'd LOVE fansites back, but forums weren't all that great. Everyone always got cliqueish, harassed newbies, the mods played favourites (and were usually the admin's personal friends, so they got a free pass for being dicks), and so on and so forth. They were basically just mini-tumblrs, more or less. I'm certain there were good forums, I just can't recall a single one.
