What are the most evil movie villains?

Not suave or fun but actually despicable.

That should be WHO.

Though what would work too.

Commodus in Gladiator. Just an awful, awful person.

One of my favourite films. Joaqiun Phoenix did such an amazing job. I was floored when I found out Jack Gleeson based his performance of Joffrey on Joaquin's Commodus - it makes perfect sense and you can absolutely see it!

The film that weirdly terrifies me is Gilliam's Brazil for its portrayal of workmanlike bureaucratic evil that just doesn't give a fuck as long as the system mostly runs. My partner pointed out that the demons in The Good Place are cut from the same cloth. They're not sexy or brilliant, they just cause people pain and are smug about it.

The Comedian from Watchmen. He just grosses me out.

Ghetsis from Pokemon. He made his son's childhood hell so he could have power, apparently just because he wanted it. (OK, Pokemon is not known for subtlety from its villains, but Ghetsis was the worst of them in my opinion.)

Oh wait just movie villains. Well the Comedian wasn't any better in the movie than he was in the book.

N wasn't even his natural son, he was adopted just so he'd have a blank slate to work with.

I heard somewhere that N was his natural father but Ghetsis lied to him and said he wasn't. But I don't remember where I heard it and the internet doesn't seem to be backing me up on that so I guess I'm wrong.

I recently watched Shawshank Redemption for the first time, and I found the warden to be a really believable, well developed, and utterly despicable villain.
