Yes and no, respectively. They weren't perfect parents and I think they struggled at times to understand both me and my siblings and didn't always get it. They tried very, very hard to make all of us fit into a certain mold and got pretty frustrated when we couldn't/didn't. But I never doubted that they loved us and wanted the best for us - it's just that we didn't agree on what "the best" meant.

But I don't think we'd be friends, no. We don't have enough in common in terms of personalities and common ground. We'd be casual acquaintances at best.
