And I assumed that Jonathan becoming the Scarecrow was like Bruce becoming Batman: He's just assuming his alter-ego and at some points he's deluded into thinking that he really is the alter, but not to the point where it becomes another personality.

And in that case, yes, it would be a separate persona, but definitely not a split personality. Like someone said previously, as Crane himself, he's not terribly threatening. He may like his fear, but he knows that he needs another way to do it. Definitely a lot like Bruce into Batman.
Also, I'm sorry for rambling a bit previously. D: But I was seriously talking this over with someone maybe an hour ago, so it was very fresh on my mind.

(Anonymous) 2008-08-27 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)And I enjoyed your rambling, I like reading/listening to others ideas, and reading about Dr. Crane has become a personal favorite to me, well all of the Batman characters, because there is so much to them and that makes for a great discussion.
Is Arkham Asylum worth a read then?

Oh good. XD'' I was worried, because upon rereading my initial comment, I think I came off sounding kinda snarky and mean about it. He's a favorite of mine, as well, and I'm just very passionate about his characterization sometimes. Batman characters make for wonderful discussion.
I...actually don't know. I've been meaning to get my hands on that comic for years. I've heard it's very, very good though, and if you've seen the art style and it doesn't bug you, then there's no harm in giving it a shot! But if you haven't read them yet and want some more Scarecrow, I'd definitely suggest Scarecrow Tales and, if you can find it, Scarecrow: Year One.
