Same.

Even though there's a serious time wait between them, I'd rather see all of one story (or a big chunk of a story) as a movie, not wait for a TV show.

We on F!S miss you!

I hear you!
Bonus point: standard 50 minutes per episode is too long in a go for me, I prefer 25 minutes anime/cartoon episodes--or even shorter slices when they exist.

I prefer the twenty five minute episodes too. Fifty minutes is too long for me and I start getting bored halfway through.

I feel the same way. Steven Universe really spoiled me because the show managed to fit a lot of plot into only 11 minutes, making it feel like 30 minute shows drag their feet in comparison. That's also why I like to read manga so that way I can read at my own pace.

LOL I was about to disagree with you until I saw your stipulation about anime. Now I agree with you 100%.

The older I get, the more bored of normal TV series I get, and all I have the attention span for is anime. I'm doing adulthood wrong...

More to the point, any good yuri anime coming up next season? Bloom Into You has been really sweet, I way preferred it to Citrus.

YESSSSSSSS. THISSSSSSSSS. Then again I prefer the written word for just about all of my storytelling needs.

I'm the opposite. I'm more likely to watch tv than movies. An hour long episode is my preferred amount of tie to invest in one story. I often get bored with movies.

Movies nowadays are SO LONG DX

I'm with you OP (well, the anime part anyway. Nothing wrong with yuri, I just prefer yaoi myself :P)

Not into yuri, but the rest is also me. I can watch and finish anime just fine, but I'm always fast forwarding over TV shows even when I feel like I'm actually enjoying it. Just something about it makes me not want to sit through dialogue? I don't even know. It just feels like everything takes forever to happen.

I am the polar opposite of this. I love TV, all my fandom loves have been hour long tv shows. For me it's actually movies that feel like...too much effort, sort of. Because I'm so much about the characters and the relationships and the very specific way the characters interact with the plot over time. That is what I live for. And I mean, if a movie is really good, I might get to a place at some point in the movie where I invest in the characters and the plot and begin to really care, and want to see more and know more, and stay with the characters over time. And shortly thereafter, of course, the movie ends, because it's a movie. And for me that's like doing all the work of getting into a story, and then having the experience end, right where I'm finally ready for it to properly start.

I guess that makes more sense to me if you're enjoying a particular show over a long period of *actual* time. Maybe what gets me is that so much TV is now distributed in giant chunks as opposed to being revealed episode by episode. Seeing the endless show options and total numbers of episodes/seasons they consist of on a streaming service interface makes me have no interest in diving into any of it. It just seems like a chore.

Yes. I enjoy movies but not the way I love TV shows, and I rarely get truly fannish over movies because there's so little canon to build on or as you say, it's almost closed canon, everything's done and wrapped up, The End.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-09 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
But does good yuri anime even exist?

(Anonymous) 2018-12-09 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
