the "one chance only" mindset a lot of people have for creators of color in the media.

You may be right about this being a general trend. However, it's a pretty big presumption to make about OP specifically. I mean, you're assuming OP wouldn't write off any creator who falsely accused a fellow creator of plagiarism.

Personally, I might not write off a creator entirely for doing that, but it is a pretty big fuck up, and it would definitely take the shine off them for me quite a bit, regardless of their race/gender/etc.

Clarification: I wasn't writing anyone off, actually. I just know that in a lot of peoples' perceptions, POC authors are under some pretty intense scrutiny and mistakes like this can torpedo a promising career.

The mistake Adeyemi made was serious, and I'd consider a wrongful accusation of plagiarism to be major regardless of the skin color of the person making it. It wouldn't put me off them entirely if they apologized and seemed truly regretful, but like you said, it'd take the shine off them.
