Clarification: I wasn't writing anyone off, actually. I just know that in a lot of peoples' perceptions, POC authors are under some pretty intense scrutiny and mistakes like this can torpedo a promising career.

The mistake Adeyemi made was serious, and I'd consider a wrongful accusation of plagiarism to be major regardless of the skin color of the person making it. It wouldn't put me off them entirely if they apologized and seemed truly regretful, but like you said, it'd take the shine off them.
