What new fandoms have you gotten into recently that you think people might like? Any new ships? Any great new fanfic gems you've found? Post about them here. Please. I'm begging you.

a friend of mine bugged me until I tried this one out, and there were right, it was awesome:

LastMan is is a French adult animated series I think it's great!! and actually a prequel for a French manga-style comics that's... good too but has many flaws. You can watch the prequel without reading the comics and you might just get a bit frustrated at the end. You could theoretically read the main series without watching the cartoon but you'll quickly be lost. So I always advise to start with the carton!
There's only one season, 26 episodes of 11 minutes each so it's a quick watch. The style is rather minimalist, the animation just a tad cheap at first but get better as it goes, the music is great. Characters are diverse and well-rounded and there are mixed martials arts, muscles, moustaches, mafiosi, machine guns and monsters! And, as it's an adult series, also violence, swearing, blood, and sex.

In a place that ressembles a caricature of a nowadays US big town, our hero is one Richard Aldana, a boxer who could be a pro if only he wasn't so lazy. But it's not our own world: the opening speech states that other worlds might exist and someone hopes for opening a gateway.
One day, Richard's best friend and coach, Dave McKenzie, gets brutally murdered by someone like looks like a frail little man with dubious tastes in clothing and hairstyling but can block punches with one finger and shoot lightning out of his hands. Yay. Richard then learns that Dave had a secret daughter, preteen little Siri, whom a weird sect tries to kidnap for... some undisclosed and unsavory supernatural purposes. Richard's a nice guy, he saves Siri, and takes her in.
But soon, more monsters come after them. And he gets roped into the Fist Fight Funeral Cup, a no-holds-barred mixed martial arts tournament for plot-related reasons.
More characters join the cast, like Tomie Katana, an aspiring singer who wants the be famous and have to strike shady deals with the entertainment system to do so, has her own personality and storyline and also progressively becomes Richard's love interest; Howard McKenzie, Dave's younger brother, who's good at both regular and occult sciences and is a bit creepily cold and detached (the redhead guy featured on the icons I use most often); Duke Diamonds, Richard's partner for tag-team matches; lieutenants Monica Mendoza and Daniel Hashman, the only competent cops in town, but that's not good news because when you're killing monsters that revert to a human shape upon dying in a world where nobody knows that demons are real you'll quickly get accused of being a serial killer, whoops...

There are official English, Spanish and I think Russian dubs? You can watch the series on Netflix is you can access their French region-locked catalogue, on VRV for the US, and there are sadly-not-very-well-subbed versions floating around on free pirate streaming sites. Or you can buy the DVD or Bluray, they've been out for a year now.

If you survive the series and decide to continue with the comics, you'll dive into the legendary Valley of Kings, a medieval Europe-like fantasy world, with more martial arts tournaments, more endearing characters, more magic, plot twists, betrayals, then you'll get thrown back to a shithole of a futuristic megalopole before you at least get answers to questions left from the prequel!

my take on it is that yes, there are oh so many delightful shipping possibilities in it, both het and slashy, there's even some canon femslash and heavy gay flirting, and canon het sex veering on porn. it really needs more love!

I’m happy about it as well ‘cause I love both and I think they’re adorable, but I’ve found only a few fics that I like.

Yeah, the quality is not necessarily the greatest in history, but honestly, it's still 10x more than I thought would ever exist.

True! And hey, maybe we’ll get better quality fics during the year that Doctor Who’s off the air.

I wouldn't say I've gotten into any new fandoms recently, but I have been reading some obscure little scanlations (of *highly* variable quality), and re-reading some bookmarked fanfic. Around the turn of the year, each year, I go over the fanfic I follow and decide whether I should move them to the 'deadfic' list or not. It's quite nice to re-read stories I might not have looked at since this time last year!

I have such a long list of unfinished/incomplete fanfic I have stored on my ipod- every once in a while I'll go back to reread them, and it's like finding them all over again!

I've gotten into Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda lately- it isn't in any way new, but I still have a rare pair fic I'd like to recommend...
Rhade and Harper- (though it includes some sixth season shipping besides that~)

It's probably the best fic I've found for the two of them, and it is amazing!
(It's basically a short, but hilariously amazing kissing contest with the crew)

All I've been reading lately is BL manga out of boredom but I don't think people would enjoy reading that.

Does Cells At Work count as a fandom. I'm watching it right now (on episode 5) and it's really fun to watch! And learning a lot about the human body. Really interesting stuff.

I also finished Hitorijime My Hero and it was really cute. Reading the manga I can see why they cut some stuff. Shame I missed it the first time around it came out.

Ooh Hitorijime My Hero. I liked the art and I liked the two ukes a lot, but I never quite got over the teacher/student stuff... though the OTHER pairing managed to be creepier, with the asshole childhood best friend. Oof. Still, apparently it's getting an English dub?! I'm all about supporting the growing official BL scene in the West.

Yeah, I rarely read teacher/student stuff (don't care much about it) but they really made it work here and it was nice seeing the character development tied to their respective ages and watching them work it out. I was honestly pretty invested in their relationship and wanted to see them be happy together! Worth it.

Also ditto on the other boyfriend. Lol but he grew on me more when he actually showed some concern for the blond and the teacher.

Eto Irokoi Zoushi: This priest gets possessed by the 12 Chinese zodiac animals every month (and takes care of them in a shrine as well). Another priest who happens to have the cat spirit from the zodiac is looking for shelter for the cat spirit. Shenanigans (and romance) happen.

Kimi wa Natsu no Naka: Two boys bond over movies. Romance and shenanigans happen.

Sonna Me de Mite Kure: The super popular student council president gets the doki dokis for a weird looking guy. Romance and shenanigans happen. Mikado is a miracle of the universe.

There's actually a ton more, but just going by author I've also been reading Minaduki Yuu, Masao Sangatsu and Harada. I'm still organizing my bookmarks.

I'm trying to find that cute teacher/student one where they hook up once the student graduates but the name escapes me right now argh! But it's really cute, the teacher has black hair and glasses and the student has long blond hair. Also romance and shenanigans.

Ongoing I'm also reading Saezuru tori wa habatakanai whenever it comes out and Caste Heaven (too little Karino/Azusa, too much everyone else even if I like glasses and his boyfriend).

There's a lot I could end up listing but I think it'll be better to make a separate post for all of them.
