Basil/Raritan has way more of an interesting dynamic and chemistry than BBC Sherlock and Moriarity. The fanfictionnis better too

I still almost exclusively find new music through AMVs.

I don't listen to the radio, thankfully doesn't play in my office either, and still use iTunes instead of Spotify or whatever, so I'd have to really actively look for new music. And the only time I do it is when watching AMVs. I'm 30. No regrets.

What are some of your most recent discoveries? :o

Me too! Though, sometimes I can't separate the song from the Fandom.

One of my go to comfort daydreams is to mentally debate to myself the comparative merits of Disney heroines as possible companions to the Doctor and which they would be better paired with (tenant? Smith?)

I lose respect for fanartists who complain about people commenting the wrong way on their art. I get if people are being actively rude or something, but most the stuff being complained about seems absolutely trivial to me. One artist recently complained about a handful of people jokingly referencing another well liked series and I'm at a loss how that's offensive.

i can get it if they really hate the other series.

I think most of the Marvel movies are genuinely good movies. Yes, they are fun. But they also are genuinely quality movies.

I'm going to see Aquaman this weekend. I don't even like the DC movies. But Aquaman looks cool. I like water and the ocean. Plus, Mamoa is hot. Shallow reasons for wanting to see. But still going. This is a secret because I hate DC. I really hate DC. Wonder Woman has been the only good DC movie (and yes, I include earlier, non-DCU movies).

I get annoyed at TLJ haters, but actually I really don't like TFA. Not sure if it is quite level of hate, but it is the only SW movie I don't actively like.

I just want someone to write self indulgent fic anthologies of my favorite pairings: MC×ME!!!!

I know self insert fic is bottom rung fic, and despised by many, but my gateway into fandom was this way, and I refuse to be ashamed. Sometimes you just can't pair MC1 with MC2. Because the best MC2 is "You". Which is to say, ME!

I actually feel vaguely ashamed picturing myself with my fictional crushes. Assuming they were real, they’d deserve better.

I fantasize all the time about myself being in my favorite fandoms, being a hero and pairing with my favorite characters. And yet, I don't want to read it? Most CharacterxOC fics don't really fit how I imagine myself and the relationship anyway. Plus, I hate 2nd person fics. And I just don't want to read them.

No reason to be ashamed though. Nothing wrong with liking those fics.

I still don't recommend it, anon. I have a self-insert fic that has haunted me for 20 years. there are people who still to this day ask if they can write fanfic of my fanfic and I have to say no because there is nothing creepier than someone trying to write the ME I was 20 years ago. sure, you can get around it by going second-person and never naming the OC/SI character so people can imagine it's them but time and time again people say they don't like those precisely because they can't imagine themselves as that character being written. damned if you do damned if you don't.

write it yourself and lovingly read it to yourself every time you need a pick-me up.

Self-insert is absolutely anathema to me, I hate it passionate and intensely, and-

-and there's nothing wrong with it at all. This is absolutely, 100% one of those you-do-you situations, and people need to just keep scrolling if they aren't into it.

The Phantom of the Opera is my most longstanding fictional crush, in spite of all the murder, kidnapping, and extortion. Yeah, the beautiful voice, astonishing musical talent, and high intelligence are pluses. But mostly it would be nice to not need a ladder to reach high shelves and also he was a successful general contractor— it’d be great to have a boyfriend who could fix my house without having to pay through the nose (pun intended) and put up with plumber’s crack, NASCAR, football, talk radio, racism, and possibly MAGA hats.

Nothing wrong with crushing on fictional villains. Sometimes they are the hottest characters.

I kind of miss "I judge you" secrets.

I got some of cheap Kylo Ren merchandise (kids school supplies) due to an office Secret Santa. He's a character who inspires an entirely rational desire to see him punched in the dick repeatedly. I threw it away and don't have the heart to tell the giver I did it.

That sounds more like a white elephant gift to me, because unless it was the kind of secret Santa where people were supposed to get a specific coworker something they knew they’d like (in which case, they fucked up) I would never bring fan merch as a secret Santa gift—and I would’ve used that particular one as a firestarter.

I got into Dream Daddy recently and I am disappointed at the fact that the fandom isn't more lively. I want self-indulgent fic of my favorite characters, damn it. I guess I have to write them all myself, LOL.
