Can you move your head or does it feel like you can't move it past a certain point? If so, it could be Torticollis/wry neck, which is treatable so no worries.

Do you feel any lumps on your back? Have you been under a lot of stress? If so it could be knots caused by stress or a pinched nerve.

Heat and rest are your best choice. And if you can get someone to give you a massage to relax the muscles.

I actually had a deep tissue massage on Saturday. I'm wondering if the loosening of muscles helped me injure it. It feels more like tendon to me than muscle, though. I can move it, it just hurts a lot if I tilt it or turn it right or if I lean it back. And the pain is in my neck a little, but it is worse down into my shoulder.
