This secret is kind of icky. She was terrible. Doesn't mean she deserved to be targeted by a sadistic serial killer because no one deserves that. And saying someone does, even if everyone involved is fictional, is still kind of terrible.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I also kinda think that this is what the episode was going for

No, it's not terrible. Thinking a fictional character deserves a terrible fate is absolutely not the same as wishing ill on a real person. You are fine, OP. I don't k ow the episode or character but i absolutely get that some characters provoke a reaction like that.

It's clear she had little to no empathy for the serial killer's victims or their families. Her interest was in making a name for herself and she was willing to elevate a serial murderer in order to do that. Nearly becoming a victim herself gave her a tiny bit of insight into what she'd been ignoring, and she was still 100% unrepentant. Not even seeing someone get tortured in front of her and narrowly avoiding torture and death herself could put her off wanting to use the suffering of others to become famous. So yeah, I'm okay with her being targeted by the serial killer tried to glorify, especially since she didn't suffer even half as much as the victims. The episode clearly wrote her as an object lesson.

When did this "It's wrong to wish harm on anyone even if they're fictional!" virtue signaling become a thing? I see it everywhere, and it's so damn weird. You can do/ wish whatever you want with fictional characters. It's like taping a firecracker to an action figure. They're not real; they can take it.

Personally, I think it is questionable because a lot of real life women get the same comments thrown at them, and the impulse comes from the same place.
