I watched the first episode and I had trouble keeping track of the characters, especially since some of the guys looked almost alike

I liked Dark quite a bit, but I can honestly say I've never watched a show that required as much of my undivided attention as Dark did, in order to follow who was who, how characters were related, and what the hell was going on. It's not even that it's an incredibly intelligent show (though I would call it above average in that regard) - it's just an incredibly complicated show, structurally speaking.
