Why bring "season 11 haters" and "long time fans just looking for reasons to hate" in this context, then? You clearly think that the whole fan-turned-hater thing might apply to OP, even though OP's given no indication that they were a long time fan.

IDK, it seems pretty reasonable to me? OP said "I stopped watching Doctor Who because of Thing X", where Thing X has existed throughout the history of Doctor Who, so it kinda makes sense to ask more about that

the issue has now been satisfactorily resolved and explained and everyone can move on

I thought they were someone who had been watching for a while. Which was a perfectly reasonable assumption to make when someone posts a secret about something they've watched and don't state they just started watching recently.

What? No. Plenty of people start new to them shows all the time. Wasn't the whole point of starting up Doctor Who in the first place? To attract a whole new audience as well as bring back long time fans? I'm like the OP in that I was curious about all the buzz with the new female Doctor and the show was on my list to try even though I've never watched it before.

But holy crap, if you can't even express an innocuous, civil negative opinion about it without fandom thinking it's totally reasonable to assume that you're a bitter long time fan spreading hate then maybe no thanks. I don't like fandom spaces where people think it's okay - REASONABLE, even! - to assume the worst about someone they don't know even when there's no evidence to support it.

You are reaching hard, anon. She asked how long they've watched because the show has been like this for a long time. OP made no mention of how long they watched, and the wording didn't come off as 'I just started watching'. OP clarified and it was fine.

It's you who wants to be bent out of shape about it. Take a breather.
