Made any big fuck ups recently?

At Christmas I was given 300 dollars worth of cash and gift cards from my family, as did my fiancée. Well apparently mine never made it home - they had both been left in cards in envelopes, but mine isn’t with the rest of our Christmas things, or in the car, or anywhere. It’s not at my brother’s house, who hosted Christmas, and no one else has seen it with their stuff. I have no idea what could have happened - dropped outside while packing or unpacking? Accidentally thrown away? I thought they got packed and I am so upset with myself for just losing 300 dollars. I really needed the money too.

So, what fuck ups have you done? Please wallow with me.

Oh no, that's awful anon, I'm so sorry!

I haven't done anything like that lately, but a few years back I hid $240 in the bottom of my makeup bag. Then I forgot it was there, went to my friend's place, and left my makeup bag in my friend's bathroom for the day. When I came back the money was gone. I am 98% sure her sister stole it. Her sister was an asshole, it would be very much in keeping with her character. But it's not like there was anything I could do.

Ack, I’m so sorry, anon! I hope you find the money soon!

My biggest fuck-up is thanks to my phone anxiety. I applied for the winter quarter at a school, but didn’t hear anything after a reasonable time frame had passed. I emailed admissions a few times and didn’t get any replies. I finally sucked it up and called. Turns out my application was incomplete because one of my transcripts got lost in the mail and the deadline had passed, so I wouldn’t be able to start in the winter like I had wanted and I lost the ninety bucks for the application fee and the fifteen for the lost transcript. It really sucks.

That sucks about your Christmas money, anon. I'm really sorry. If you can at all afford to, I think you should still get yourself something nice. Not necessarily something that costs the full amount, just something. And who knows, maybe you'll get extra enjoyment out of the one thing because your focus isn't split between a bunch of new stuff? I mean, that's the polly-anna approach. If you hate that kind of thing, that's cool, just ignore me. I am sorry, though. I'm cheap as dirt and I hate, hate, haaaate losing money.

The most expensive fuckup of my life was when I got a bit too drunk and fell on my face. I was grinning like a loon when I fell (because drunk), and I managed to break off one of my front teeth right at the base.

I got a dental plate for a while (like hockey players have), but it looked bad and was going to cause the surrounding teeth to weaken over time, so I ended up having to save $5500 for a dental implant (I had no coverage).

The only reason I was even able to do it was because I was living with my father and he gave me a really good deal on rent/hydro while I was saving up.

On the bright side, I basically stopped drinking after that, which has saved me money and made me healthier. It took me a good five years to be able to see the up side, but I got there eventually, lol.

I passed around a signature sheet at a work meeting and then lost it, so I have to go get everyone to sign another one, including some people I hardly ever see.

I caught the wire on my iPod headphones in my fly earlier today.
