At least the original wasn't so damn preachy. I gave the new one three episodes and it went soooo overboard on "gotta be PC" that it sucked the life out of it.

Also OP I think you are being unfair comparing special effects from a show that ran 20 years ago to today. Especially a show that ran on a new tv channel. The WB had only been around for about 5 or 6 years when Charmed came out so they had a tiny budget to work with.
