You're getting dangerously close to "[East] Asians are basically all the same so it doesn't matter." Pretty much every shitty local sushi restaurant near me is owned by either Korean or Filipino families, and someone would be well-within their rights to talk about how inaccurate the food is. Because they're not Japanese, they're not using Japanese techniques, the end result is not Japanese.

Now don't get me wrong, this particular guy is a complete asshole and should be raked across the coals, but there is something to be said for food being "passed off" as a certain cuisine that it's simply not.

So that is for Japanese people to take up with them but no white folk should be getting involved. It will never be our place. It is really simple. And did you hurt yourself reaching with your opening statement?

I think anybody who is a customer of a restaurant has reason to complain about food not being authentic..?

If I go to a Japanese restaurant expecting Japanese food, I'm well within my rights to complain when it's a shitty korean knock-off.

There is a way to do it and above ain't it.
