Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with any of the above. Most people seem not to either, considering I've never heard of anyone having a problem with pizza places calling themselves "Italian" cuisine and calling them inauthentic, even when they've got stuff like deep dish Hawaiian pizza with pineapples and ham and sriracha on top on the menu.

The guy is basically doing the equivalent of complaining about that.

Do... pizza places actually call themselves "Italian" cuisine? Because around here they all just call themselves pizza joints and don't try to pretend to be anything else. It's actually a lot more common to see places identifying themselves as "Chicago pizza" or "St. Louis pizza."

Around here, yeah they do. Besides, if you look on popular delivery sites like Grubhub or whatever, you'll find all of them listed under "Italian" just like you'll find Chinese American joints listed under "Chinese" or "Asian"
