As mentioned above, Angelina Jolie. Because most people in my life know my stance on cheating and everyone involved in cheating. So I used to loath her. And yet, she's done so much good in this world that I've started to like her a lot.

Well, I have always had pretty eclectic music taste, but am pretty narrow and old fashioned in my taste for literature. I've never really thought of that as a contradiction, but recently my friends at a party were totally SHOCKED that I knew songs by Katy Perry (their fault, they started the karaoke, if Firework is on it, I am going to BELT out that shit). ... I guess knowing me mainly in lit seminars discussing Woolf they figured I must somehow just listen to classical music or jazz?
... come to think of it, she's one of the tamer artists whose music I jam to - if they ever find out I also get down to Akon or DK Kahled ... there might be melted brains in the department.

... I realize I just totally missed "fandom" in your question. My friends are all in the literature department at uni, though, so I guess ... that's a fandom of sorts?

nayrt but I am of the opinion that literature departments are exactly that: well funded fandoms for a specific genre of work. I think the feelings that make people participate in tv/movie/game/whatever fandoms comes from the same place as scholars writing dissertations about the works of dead literary figures. I think scholars have to constantly fight to urge to write about how sexy they think authors and characters are and how they totes ship so-and-so.

My music taste is weird enough that I always end up surprising someone, lmao. In my current fandom, my friends are catching me on a big heavy metal kick, so I think they'd be really surprised to learn that I really love Celtic folk music and I'm starting to slip into that lately.
