Secret maker: I didn’t need her to be a perfect character or even to never treat others badly. I just wantef to see her get called on it and apologize. The movie was too Halmark-y and corny for me to want that kind of realism in it where she stayed flawed and only got her comeuppance for hurting the feelings of her conventionally attractive friend instead of her treatment towards the others. The whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth, like the narrative was more about “ it’s okay to be *this* far from society’s beauty standards but if you’re *that* far it’s just a joke”.
