All movie versions of Freaky Friday are better than the book because they switch back and forth between the mother's and daughter's viewpoints. The book is all in first person from the daughter's point of view and that makes it not nearly as entertaining.

I think even the author realized this because there's a lesser known sequel book where the same switch happens between the girl's brother and their dad, and that one does the alternating points of view.
