Yeah, the "dark, brooding, seductive, powerful vampire who enthralls his lover until they beg to be bitten (and fucked)" definitely seems to be the standard.

However, I have read the occasional exception to this. There is a Johnlock fic in which Sherlock is kind of a smol woobie and also a vampire, and it is fucking great.

Basically, this is an AU I love, but only when the author does some subverting of the standard tropes. Like, the one who's a vampire is self-conscious about it and a little scared that they're not in control. Meanwhile the human one is calm and collected and kind of a badass.
