AYRT—honestly the writers had a heavy duty track record of pairing assholes with good people. Rumple did the right thing occasionally.

My personal OUAT bugabears were Hook and Zelena—Hook more for what happened to Emma over the course of the show than in his own right, by the end.

Between Hook, Rumple, and Regina, only Regina’s redemption arc advanced in more than fits and starts, and the writers still brushed her raping and controlling whatsisface under the rug rather than ever deal with it. But then, they kept returning to “hot evil lady rapes/sexually assaults her prisoner” like it wasn’t just as gross as the more common genderswapped version.
