I can't really imagine believing a fic where a character would fall in love with a self-insert version of me. but that's my problem, not yours.

I generally feel the same way but I've actually had two people write ficlets about me and fictional characters. They were both guys much older than me though (and I'm old already), so it didn't seem as ridiculous as say, Captain America from the MCU going for me. One of the ficlets even mentioned that I am... not thin. (I didn't actually request these ficlets but they were fun.)

This is why i don't read this type of fic. I want escapism in my fics. Honestly, even in my fantasies "me" isn't really me or much like me.
