Well, they're not really police, exactly. The fact that they never handle the kinds of ordinary issues that regular cops do and therefore don't run into the same issues helps a lot.

This. I feel like a lot of people don't stop to think about that stuff when they go around calling her a "bitch" or complaining about her attitude or whatever. I've always liked her, and find her character arc interesting.

And indeed, it is nice to see a couple on a drama like this that actually lasts.
