You do you, OP!

Meanwhile I'm one of those people who doesn't care about the actors at all and just scrolls over all the discussions and pics fandom tend to post.

I'm the same. I really only care about the characters the actors play and the fictional world they're in myself. It actually feel kinda awkward for me knowing anything about the actors themselves and their personal lives, if anything, because it pulls me out of the show/movie/whatever when I do.

Never been much interested in celebrity culture, awards shows, cast interviews, or anything like it.

Same.

I don't care about the actors, I'm here for the characters.

I'm the same, mostly because I don't think of the actor so much as the character. I like to truly immerse myself in something. Which sometimes means that if I hate a character, I have trouble warming up to the actor in another role.

I totally get that. I don't look up actors or anything, but I get where you're coming from. :D

This sounds like a lot of work for little payment.

Looking something up on Wikipedia is "a lot of work"?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Comments like this worry me. I almost hope you're just being snarky and rude, because the idea that someone in this day and age believes that Googling is a lot of work is depressing as hell. Haven't you ever been curious about... well, anything? And then realized how cool it is that you can probably find out in less than a minute?

Maybe I'm showing my age but it does seem like a lot of people take technology and the internet for granted. I fucking love that I can look shit up within seconds. I do it all the time, for everything. No idea what a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog looks like? BAM, Google can show me. Curious about when Chinese New Year is? It's February 5th. What time is that new bbq place closing? 10pm, but they're open until 11pm on Saturdays.

Jesus, how can that be too much work?

Enjoyment = payment. Same reason anyone does anything for entertainment or out of curiosity, without the likelihood of more tangible benefits.

I look up on the shows or movies for BTS stuff. I find production stuff interesting. I may like something more if I find out that it was a passion project of some kind.

I'm with you, OP. If I like a movie or tv show, I will look up the actors on wiki, even if to find out what else they've done. Also, if they are a great actor, I do become intrigued as to their background.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-17 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I always look up old movies I'm watching on TV and usually also look up the actors and director and other stuff they did, even if I think the movie is dumb.
