Re: What is the worst place you have ever visited?

My gut answer is the town next door on their parade day. All towns near me have children's days where they choose a queen and various 'champions' 'nights', ladies in waiting', fairies, 'bower girls' ect that form a parade and then bands and floats like the macey parade have but smaller take part. These used to be held on the day in June that miners had off. It means a lot to each town. Now Next Town's (NT) is on the last day of school for my town (we are diff counties and we go to school that Friday because we didn't on our fair day which is a Tuesday). Many of us skip the last day of term and it never counts as absence as you are dragged to church and many parents are like 'um no'. One year my friends and I , wanting to enjoy NT's parade, got on the bus and went down. Every time we spoke we were glared at. Then when we spoke enough around a group of youths they pinned we were from my town and physically escorted us back to the bus stop and made us come home. So, that was a horrific experience. There is far less animosity now but before I was born folk from each town would meet in the fields between to fight so....it has always been a shitshow aha

I'm sorry you were treated like that but this whole tradition is fascinating to me.
