Totally agree. With any skating pair, not just these two... it's just so intimate!

And the sibling pairs?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-20 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Because there are sibling pairs. And then there are the pairs that could have incompatible orientations.

NAYRT (As I tend to ship siblings I better stay way out of skating fandom then.)

Dude, just let us have our romantic fantasies here, okay :)

I can't imagine doing anything so physically intimate with my sibling, but my entire family isn't at all affectionate, so.

People are really struggling with the whole ship and let ship principle in this thread.

Ship and let ship is a concept that only applies to fictional characters.

NAYRT

So you've never watched a movie based on real people or read a historical novel that didn't follow the facts to the very letter? Every single movie and novel you've read based on real people has stuck to the facts and only the facts, never portraying anything contradictory to the facts or even so much as speculating? Never dramatizing or romanticizing elements at all?

Oh, and of course you've never deliberately read any celebrity gossip, online or in a magazine, which speculated something personal, without evidence, about a particular celeb.

How's the air up there on that horse, anon. Must be pretty thin.

I actually do find it very uncomfortable when biopics and whatnot exaggerate or fabricate relationships that didn't exist, now that you mention it. I know you're trying to get me with a "gotcha!!" on the historical thing, but look: you wanna wait until these folks are dead for a couple hundred years, then all right, I give you my apparently holy permission to ship them around. I'll still be uncomfortable with it.

I find celebrity gossip incredibly trashy, as well, and I avoid it.

Air's fine. Quite crisp.

THANK YOU. I'm pretty much fine with rpf as long as people don't shove it in the actor's faces. But media coverage, which most people are ok with, actually does strike me as inappropriate a lot of the time. I mean, not only are they peddling their fictions about celebs to millions, but they're claiming those fictions are true. Even the more respectable mags and sites and talk shows are guilty of asking extremely prying and inappropriate questions. And ugh, don't even get me started on rpf movies. I watch some of them and I'm not at all against other people watching them. But damn they can be shady af. Most of them tell vague half truths about people's lives and who they were, and because they're "official" a lot of people leave believing things that aren't true about the person in question.

Yet randos on the internet, posting their fictional fantasies about celebs for their 25 followers with the same interests to see - yup, they're really crossing a line. </sarcasm

I've actually written sibling RPS and don't really care if anyone is fantasizing whatever, but in this particular case, the specific wording of the secret "it's just hard to imagine... without also being in love with them" is what I have an issue with, I guess. To me, it sounds a little tinhat-ish when applied to any real people, but especially when applied to family members.

Read it that way if you want, but I'm the OP and I've never believed for a second that they're actually together. I said I find it hard to imagine being that intimate with a person in ways A, B, and C and not being intimate with them, and that's true. I do find that hard to imagine, for myself, personally. But nowhere in my secret do I suggest that my own feelings dictate their reality. And frankly, I'm baffled that anyone would jump to that conclusion based on what I said.

I said what I meant. I wasn't implying anything more than exactly what's there.
