(Anonymous) 2019-01-20 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)I don't care if you anti-ship what I ship (MKINYKATIOK). I only mildly give a crap that you're judgey about RPF. I mean, I don't feel bad, so it doesn't really affect me. However, if you insist on stating incredibly obvious facts at me and acting like you're imparting wisdom, yeah, I'm gonna mock you.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-21 01:09 am (UTC)(link)I await the inevitable dogpiling I'm gonna get, but I'm probably not going to see it so go nuts, RPF shippers.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-21 01:13 am (UTC)(link)We've seen the damage and ramifications RPF/obsessive shippers has on real life celebrities, it's not healthy nor should it be condoned.
I don't think it makes sense to conflate RPF and obsessive shippers that way. The obsessive shippers are the ones who do the damage and cause the ramifications. RPF, in and of itself, doesn't. I don't like it myself but if people aren't being dicks about it, I don't see what harm it does.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-21 01:39 am (UTC)(link)Plus, the majority of RPF makes a point of stating outright "Yo, this is fiction," which I think is a really good thing to do. Just in case some doofus reads it and doesn't have the mental faculties to realize it's not an authorized biography, lol.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-21 02:56 am (UTC)(link)RPF has been shown to negatively affect real people and their relationships. Acting like "Oh, but I'm not the type to make fan content for my ships, I just like it on the side so it's okay" does not make you any less of a creep. I reccomend the RPF fans ITT look up Struccimovies video essays about fake friends and parasocial relationships on youtube.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-21 05:40 am (UTC)(link)Someone writing A loves B in an obscure corner of the internet (unless actors/etc regularly frequent AO3) is not hurting them!
I'm defending fucking crazy people, but to equate fanfic with batshit insane fans who go to cons and panels and say, "Hey Jared admit you're really in love with Jensen!" is ridiculous.
But somehow regular people (not the artists themselves) think trash mags are okay but fanfic is somehow crossing a line. THAT'S what I don't get.
