Well, guess what...

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
What?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
chicken butt!

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I love Loki or anything, but what's actually interesting about her?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the MCU version of her is not interesting at all.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, maybe one where she faces '*☆actual consequences☆*' for her actions? I'd watch that.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd watch that, too!

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It can be in the same series where Tony Stark and Bruce Banner do as well.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
wym?

You mean like being kidnapped and held in an illegal, underwater prison, and then becoming a fugitive from the government who would be either killed or imprisoned for life in some black hole (not literal) if she were captured again?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
No.
Like someone sitting her down and saying, "Hey, remember that time you joined the Super Nazis? Yeah, that was fucking awful, and I don't for one second believe you're sorry. You backslide, and I'm putting a bullet between your eyes, you HYDRA fuck."

Something like that.

*dies laughing*

Yeah, that's what happened. Even Captain America didn't condemn her for that, so, you know...chill.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT but, wait, why are we expecting Captain America to condemn people for being hydra-affiliated

Seeing as he keeps making the most stupid decisions that's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I'd be interested in that I feel like she hasn't been given much to do in the films, because it regularly seems like she's too powerful so they keep her away from the plot until it's convenient. I'm not sure about the show though because it's like they're giving her a consolation prize for not getting much in the films?

And as a Loki fan I've been meh about his series from day one and everything I'm hearing about it isn't changing that.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, a series about paint drying would probably be more interesting than yet more Loki at this point, so.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-27 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean... why not both?

Maybe it's because I don't read the comics so I don't know much about her, but for a character that SEEMED to have so much coolness and potential, the MCU did very little with her, so it would be neat IMO to delve into the potential she seems to have.

In the comics, she can and does literally change the entire universe, and she has brought someone back from the dead. They've changed her powers around of course, as comic writers always seem to do, but she has a *lot* of power.

I suspect that she, like many other very powerful characters, is a huge challenge to be written well and/or interestingly, because they always seem to either radically alter, or somehow 'cripple' super-powerful characters, because otherwise they could solve all the issues without all the crazy super-heroing.

"either radically alter, or somehow 'cripple' super-powerful characters"

This is exactly how I've felt about Wanda in the MCU. And seeing as the secret mentions him, MCU Loki has basically been reduced to "lol knives" by this point.

This is why I struggle to be on board with the "wow the writers are genius!" narrative in the MCU fandom. They're taking the easier way out a lot of the time, such as removing characters from the plot at certain points or neutering their powers.

Oh, man, so much this. Who in hell thinks they're genius? I mean, i get they have to kind of follow the comic canon to a point but...yeah. I've read a half-dozen fanfics that do a HUGELY better job of the Infinity War stuff and the dreadful, dreadful Age of Ultron Stuff.

And hell, just - a lot of stuff in general, stop being so *predictable*.....

Does... does anyone in the MCU fandom actually think they're genius? Bc that's not a sentiment I've ever seen from the Stucky or the Thorki side of things. In my corners of the fandom people are pretty critical.

Can you blame them for neutering or removing those characters, though? Even the comics don't stay true to their powers. It wouldn't be a very interesting movie if Wanda could just show up and *~+magic+~* all the problems away.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
literally why though

I mean I don't care about loki much but at least there's some there there

MCU wanda just....she feels like a collection of three character notes scribbled on a receipt rather than an actual character

- dead brother (sad!)
- weird powers (convenient! or inconvenient! whatever we need!)
- hates tony nvm she's team now uhhh.....
- crush on the robot (cute! tragic!)

and none of these things ever seem to gel together or have much weight outside the single/separate scenes they're highlighted in. not to mention Olsen's got no presence as her. Which might be bad directing, idk, but I just.

bluh

at least loki can be funny sometimes

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I found her weird and disjointed, like they never really established a character for her but threw some storylines together and hired an awful mannequin-person actress to try to make sense of it.

I want to like her, don't get me wrong. I just keep wishing they put more thought into her and cast someone who could act.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-28 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
If she was more like the Wanda from the comics, I'd be really excited - dealing with being Magneto's daughter, her vaguely incestuous relationship with Pietro, being in love with a robot, her unresolved anger issues...

I'd love it if they did a spin on House of M for her series.

Much like I'd love with they did a spin on Agent of Asgard for Loki's series.
