I know everyone got defensive about the hooker comment on the other day's secret but... hookers do have a certain dress sense sometimes and this... matches it...

It's not surprising people would get defensive about something with so much class and gender baggage? Especially if it's being used as an insult? Idk

OK, but have you actually seen any hookers in real life, and not just on TV? I've lived in a few different cities and had to walk home at night through a particular sort of neighborhood and seen a bunch of hookers. None of them every looked like that. Most of the ladies hooking in one of the cities I used to live in wore leggings or jeans, and almost never any jewelry. May be regional differences, I guess, or perhaps the different weather? I dunno, but that looks more like clubbing gear, not hooking gear to me. *shrugs*

Wow, she seriously, seriously looks like a hooker. Nothing about this outfit says "superhero", all I get is... hooker from NYC in the late 80s. Maybe it's the nasty faux fur coat??

After seeing the series I wonder if she landed in the 80's maybe and just really likes the style of clothes? That or they could have just been making a nod to her 80's introduction with the clothes.

Either way her outfits looked fine to me after a few episodes and it's not like she's actually a superhero at this point so why would she have a suit? She'll get one I'm sure, just not at this point in the story.

It isn't the lack of suit. It is the outfit she is wearing. I am almost certain that kind of outfit isn't even in style for hookers anymore.

It's the streetwalker stereotype look down to a T, this is just flat out racism. Starfire is a fucking intergalactic alien princess, she deserves better.

She used to dress like a white hooker, now she dresses like a black hooker. I don't see an insult in this change.

What show is this? The Hookers Club? Does the guy in the mask fuck his clients with said mask on at any point during the show?

This show looks like a disaster in general. The early 2000's called and they want their emo edgelord myspace aesthetic back.

Her comics uniform is pretty minimal but it's not stereotypical hooker wear like this is.

maybe they were trying to send the message that hookers can be superheroes too.

I wish whoever made this show would get that it's okay to style characters differently from the comics. A nod here and there to their origins like having her wear some purple and keep the necklace would be cool, but her comic look just doesn't translate well to live action.

I haven't seen the whole series but there's an in-show explanation for her outfit. She was apparently undercover (trying not to spoil too much) and I assumed she was pretending to be an escort or something like that. Then, with all the crazyness, finding different clothes hadn't been her priority. Maybe she will change clothes at a later date. But, from what I've seen so far, she's still a good character. So yeah, she does look like a hooker and it's on purpose.

I always like it when creators come up with Really Good Reasons why their female characters simply must reveal more skin than they cover and/or look like hookers!
