It's inaccurate to what's actually shown in Game of Thrones, however. Both because both the North and the South have hypermasculine cultures that venerate violence, and because the characters who could actually be considered effeminate by a reasonable human are as a majority either good or neutral. A lot of the common traits associated with "STRONG SIMPLE FOLK = Good" are also explicitly shown to be liabilities in the setting.
