How is the south disabled-friendly, though? The idea that theyre "unfairly" gendered is particularly silly because WHO is being unfair in this scenario? It's people like the OP who came up with the interpretation. GRRM isn't that deep.

Or... maybe GRRM unconsciously wrote shitty gendered themes into his book without consciously meaning to because he's a person who exists in our culture and shares many of our deeply-rooted ideas about things like gender?

DA: Exactly. Just like racism and misogyny, portrayals of enemies as being effeminate and decadent is a cultural bias that's existed for ages and requires no special thought. It's a stereotype as old as Sparta vs Athens.

An stereotype not present in these books.

DA

GRRM is sexist. Very sexist. But that doesn't mean he wrote this particular thing into his books. And I don't think he did.

Sure. It comes down to specifics. But it's not intrinsically implausible because "GRRM is not that deep".

Different anon than the one you're referring to

"GRRM is not that deep" is actually an argument in favor of including sexist stuff subconsciously.

+1. GRRM writes some incredibly sexist shit that REALLY doesn't all stand up to the "but it's a subversion!" trope. The new mess of Fire And Blood took that up to 11.
