I blame lazy artist syndrome more than anything else. Anyone can crank out some blue stick figure with boobs and a ponytail and "hay look, Samus!" and the good reviews will pour in. Her suit, however, still takes a modicum of skill to draw.

Anyway, don't let the Internet ruin your favorite characters for you. If we all did that, well... fandom would be a rolling tumbleweed on a barren plain. [windy noises!]
