I've never been convinced that a robot/android character is really sentient. I hate "androids have souls/can feel love" plots. You can keep your humanoid toasters, thanks.

I don’t like it when it’s presented as indistinguishable from human love, from physical/verbal expression to other people remarking on it. But I’m a sucker for androids/robots placing more weight or importance on specific lifeforms over time when it’s technically unnecessary for them.

I’m convinced we wouldn’t recognize their sentience, at least not immediately, because we’re searching for a reflection.
