On a federal level? Yes?

I...suppose. But I can't really see calling that overlooked when it's been a hot topic on a state level.

It's almost like... the federal government and state governments are different things... and I actually specified that in my original comment.....

Overlooked and disagreed with are not the same thing. I agree with you it should be legal. But it not being doesn't mean it is overlooked, it means the federal government, so far, disagrees with you and thinks it should remain illegal.

NAYRT but I actually do agree with them, in the sense that it seems to have gotten almost no consideration within the federal government despite the fact that a number of states are moving on it and despite the fact that it's a broadly popular policy with voters.

Yes, thank you, that's what I meant... which I (mistakenly?) thought was in line with the topic of this thread.

And I disagree that it has gotten no consideration. It has. It gets discussed all the time, including by federal officials. It never gets brought to vote because it would never pass, so no one actually tries. But it does get considered all the time.

I thought "overlooked" meant the government was taking no action at all on it. Has there been recent action or debate on it in US Congress?

I don't know about congress as a whole. There have been Republicans and also members of the executive branch who have made it clear they consider marijuana the same as other drugs and are against any law change.

The thread specifically said political issues that are overlooked. Politics aren't just about what happens on a federal level even if most people aren't as aware of it.

*SHRUG* OK, I give up, my comment was stupid and out of place, good night.

Nobody said that. You were mistaken in suggesting a topic that didn't fit the thread, but there's no reason to take it like a personal attack.
