I can understand why Remus does all these stuff. He was so desperate for friends and so happy that he was part of the Marauders that he couldn’t bring himself to say no, and even when Sirius pulled that “prank” on Snape which should’ve been a dealbreaker (because what if Remus did turn Snape?) Remus stayed friends with him. He had so much insecurities stemming from his lycanthropy that he convinced himself that it was best to stay away from Harry (and anyway Dumbledore would make sure Jame’s kid was in good hands) and then that he shouldn’t become romantically involved with Tonks.

I still don’t like Remus though and I don’t understand why so much of fandom fawns over this sad sack of a character.

Which Harry Potter characters do you like?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-02 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Luna. And Regulus, maybe.

So at the point where there's basically one character in the series that you like, what do you actually enjoy about the series generally?

I mean, the reality is that outside of Luna (and maybe a few others, like Neville and McGonnagall and maybe Hagrid), almost all of the characters in HP do incredibly shitty things at various times. Those things have varying degrees of badness and varying contexts, and all of us draw our own lines about which things we can forgive and which we can't, and that's totally fine. That's probably the point of the series being as nuanced as it is. But, like, you could raise the same question about why fandom fawns over almost any character in the series.

DA
I'm sorry, but this isn't Quizilla. So if next time you want to ask insignificant questions, do it some place else.

Add McGonagall and Neville on that list and I'm with you. Not very many good characters, but there are a few.
