Re: Secrets you're too lazy to make

I've never read the manga "Orange" and never will, no matter how many people tell me that it's awesome.

(SPOILERS? I haven't read it, so things might be wrong?)

As someone who was suicidal a few years back, I don't mind the part where these two friends somehow send letters to the past to prevent the suicide of a friend AT ALL.

What DOES bother me however is that this includes getting the female friend from the future together with the dead friend. She's married with a kid in "her" future. With her co-consipirator no less. I'd spend 99% of the time feeling so damn sorry for her husband... knowing he was always the second fidle and if she could, she'd go back and erase their marriage and child from the world (I mean, no matter how big his own regrets are, that must suck?).
I think I'd have liked it better if they'd only tried to be better friends to the boy or if they'd tried to get him together with another girl.

I can't really explain, but something just doesn't sit right with me there. :/

"It is your duty to save this dude's life with your pussy"

that about the shape of it?

OP

Not really. It's more like... this manga is apparently about dealing with depression and helping a person so they won't kill himself (which is not a bad thing) BUT saving him requires basically... killing themselves, just not literally? "Just" their life together and their child's and who knows what else they're changing there. (Now, I admit that I don't know if they're creating an alternate universe there, which would make it marginally better? I guess? The implications are still there) I just wish the whole love story had either not been in there, or that these two characters were single/without family/child.

It's been a while since I watched the anime but as I recall there is actually discussion around it being an alternate universe and that it's indicated at the end that they basically did create an alternate timeline, the world where they didn't save Kakeru still exists even after he's saved in the series timeline.

I'd spend 99% of the time feeling so damn sorry for her husband...

... why? People can have relationships that are incredibly important to them at that time and then go on to marry someone else because that first person ended up being someone they weren't compatible with for the long term. That doesn't diminish the importance of either relationship.

Sure. But actively working in erasing the marriage and your kid?
