I like a "Normal schlub wakes up in fantasy land in younger/hotter body" story as much as the next person, but LBR - If I woke up tomorrow, physically 15 and with an hourglass figure, I would flip the fuck out, and not stop for a long-ass time.
Conventionally attractive people can get dysphoria too, guys...

I think once I got over the “oh god am I hallucinating, did I get hit by a car, am I dead?” freakout occasioned by waking up in a fantasyland, nevermind in a younger hotter body, I would spend a lot of time worrying about changing back when/if I managed to return to my average life and ugly middle aged body.

But I’m cis; if someone post-transition woke up as a teen in an exaggeratedly wrong-gendered body, that would suck. I wonder if anyone’s written a portal fantasy where a trans person wakes up in a magical world with the body they always wanted?

And what about coordination? Your arms and legs are not the same length and you're not the same height. And you definitely don't have the same muscle memory. You would be an uncoordinated mess, at least at first.

I hate that Dungeon Meshi is getting popular because everyone gets the characterization wrong and only cares about ships. Farcille is especially bad because it's mostly ~uwu pure lesbians~ bullshit. This isn't even an anime yet aaaaaaa

Does Dungeon Meshi have more of a plot than "group of people repeatedly has to cook different things, but IN A DUNGEON"? Because that's all the recs for it make it sound like and frankly that sounds like a good reason not to read it because it sounds so repetitive and gimmicky. And most of the fans are mostly in it for Farcille, which I also know nothing about except "uwu pure lesbians". Is their dynamic actually more interesting than that? Are they morally gray? I love me some morally gray femslash.

I always hope for tumblr's latest pet "we stan a queen" celebrity to do something a teensy bit problematic so I can watch them switch from worshipping her to wanting her dead in the blink of an eye. I love them exposing themselves as the perfectionist demons they are. Marie Kondo, I'm counting on you now!

I ship Matt the Radar Technician with Leslie Jones's character from the same skit.

(Secret because it's a ship based on a single Saturday Night Live skit from 4 years ago, where the two characters I'm referring to only interacted with each other for a minute or so at most, and as far as I know, Leslie's character doesn't even have an actual name, and this is just stupid but I really liked them together so I ship it and call it Muffin because of Leslie's line "I haven't had my muffin yet, Matt!")

Given how easy it is to read Kylo Ren as subby, I am loving this idea of Kylo Ren-as-Matt the Radar Technician being totally into Leslie Jones's character because of her berating him for being terrible at the job.

You're not alone. I like to think that she still yells at him and bosses him around even after he reveals himself to be Kylo Ren (not that anyone was actually surprised). He brings her a muffin every day.

I don't like Vic Mignogna and never have, but as there's no undeniable evidence* that he's a sex pest and none of his multiple supposed victims are pressing charges, I don't think mob justice is right in this instance.

I haven't followed this particular controversy (as I'm not in any relevant fandom), but I think the ideas of "undeniable evidence" and "mob justice" are both really bad ways to frame this kind of a thing.

Because, first, is "undeniable evidence" actually the kind of standard that we should be demanding here? I don't think that it is - we're not a court of law, we're human beings. Coming to conclusions based on imperfect evidence is a fundamental part of being human. And "undeniable evidence" is not really a standard that we demand in most parts of life. So it seems to me that we can draw reasonable conclusions about things even if we're not 100% certain and the evidence isn't undeniable. That's kind of what we do all the time.

Second, is "mob justice" actually what's going on here? I mean, what actual consequences are there and what is being done to this person? If someone is getting yelled at, or loses some jobs and has to stay out of the public eye, is it fair to call that "mob justice"? And is it actually an unfair consequence?

And, like, there's no easy answers to those questions, but demanding 'undeniable evidence' and talking about 'mob justice' is drawing conclusions in advance.

I'm not a fan and he's always struck me as a homophobe. I'm gay, so that's a dealbreaker for me.

But it seems like a case of bad boundaries and misunderstanding about what's okay to do to a stranger. I believe the biggest issue brought forth is him kissing girls' cheeks as an intended non-sexual (probably) gesture of endearment without asking consent. To be clear, there's a huge issue with Vic, a 50-someting year old man, being a bit too friendly with teenage girls. It isn't okay, but it's not crazy to think he had no idea it was inappropriate, since kissing cheeks - along with hugs and such - are so variable to culture and upbringing.

I don't mind him earning his reputation as a skeev and a perv who thinks he's some kind of rockstar celebrity among otaku crowds. But it doesn't seem like there's any evidence he's some kind of sex offender or committed any crime, nor anything that could be reasonably considered assault against anyone. So the mob justice is a little uncomfortable to me, too.

I'm sorry that "pressing charges" is where you draw the line. Most people won't want to because Vic has a ton of money and could effectively bury them.

He's a 50+ year old man, nearly 60. He should know better than to give his phone number to teenaged girls. This isn't mob justice. He's been doing this for over ten years, he's an asshole to other VAs and con staffers, and there's at least one photo I've seen where he obviously had his hand up a teen girl's shirt.

One of my favourite writers constantly jumps from new idea to new idea, and I *love* her writing but I just wish she'd finish things more often? It's just really disappointing when she posts two or three chapters of something really cool, and then never touches it again.
I know she can write whatever she wants, the author is not my slave, etc, etc, but it's still disappointing.

I've never read the manga "Orange" and never will, no matter how many people tell me that it's awesome.

(SPOILERS? I haven't read it, so things might be wrong?)

As someone who was suicidal a few years back, I don't mind the part where these two friends somehow send letters to the past to prevent the suicide of a friend AT ALL.

What DOES bother me however is that this includes getting the female friend from the future together with the dead friend. She's married with a kid in "her" future. With her co-consipirator no less. I'd spend 99% of the time feeling so damn sorry for her husband... knowing he was always the second fidle and if she could, she'd go back and erase their marriage and child from the world (I mean, no matter how big his own regrets are, that must suck?).
I think I'd have liked it better if they'd only tried to be better friends to the boy or if they'd tried to get him together with another girl.

I can't really explain, but something just doesn't sit right with me there. :/

You should be legally required to be in a low-budget indie romcom or a stage musical (and be actually good and compelling in them) before you're allowed to star in blockbuster action movies.

I have my favorite ships on "Criminal Minds" that I'd always thought would be cool to see canon, if the show ever went that way. But I've also always been equally as fine with them just remaining friends, because the friendships on this show are indeed lovely and special.

That said, I'm genuinely excited and intrigued by what happened with Reid and JJ in the "Criminal Minds" finale, and I'm looking forward to how that plays out next season. Whichever way things between them turn out, I'm just happy they're even exploring the possibility.

In 'Don't Bite the Sun' and 'Drinking Sapphire Wine', the people of that 'verse can 'commit suicide' and get a new body pretty much whenever they want. They switch genders all the time, and you can be any color you want (including green or gold or red), you can have wings, fur, etc.....

Why doesn't fandom like that 'verse? Seems like a fun 'verse to play in.

Anonymity has ruined me. It let me feed my contrarian streak with none of the fallout and enables my anxiety. I'm not sure if I actually stand for anything anymore or I'm just saying whatever bullshit that gives me instant gratification. Or is this what we all be without accountability?
