In 'Don't Bite the Sun' and 'Drinking Sapphire Wine', the people of that 'verse can 'commit suicide' and get a new body pretty much whenever they want. They switch genders all the time, and you can be any color you want (including green or gold or red), you can have wings, fur, etc.....

Why doesn't fandom like that 'verse? Seems like a fun 'verse to play in.

I read "Don't Bite the Sun" and it was definitely an intriguing world. But I've never seen much fandom for any of Tanith Lee's stuff.
